Determining your Ideal Dose of CBD

Do you know what your ideal dose of CBD is? It’s different for everyone. Your ideal dose may also change from day-to-day depending on what your body needs.

A Starting Point

Every manufacturer suggests a dose or serving. Start with their suggestion. After all, they know their product and how many milligrams of CBD are in each dropper. For some people, a mild dose of 10 – 13 mg a couple of times a day works great. Others need as many as 200 – 300 mg a day.

Always start with the dose that is suggested by the manufacturer if you are brand new to CBD. Ideally, you’ll want to use CBD once or twice a day to start. This will help you understand if these smaller doses are working for your body’s needs or not.

Capsule Dosages

If you are using CBD capsules, it’s important to know that not all CBD capsules have the same amount of CBD in them. Some manufacturers just make 5 mg or 10 mg CBD capsules. Others make capsules that contain 25 mg or more per capsule. With capsules, the effects take longer to surface because the CBD needs to be digested first. It can take between 45 minutes and an hour for the effects of CBD capsules to be apparent.

The effects may last a few hours to all day – it really depends on your body’s individual need on that day.

Adjusting Doses

Something that is important to know about adjusting CBD doses is that – you might have to adjust your dose every day. Once you find your ideal base dose, your body’s needs might change daily. This is okay and can be expected for those that might need support of multiple different symptoms.

If you are a new CBD user and are unsure if a suggested dose is supporting your needs enough, it’s best to increase your doses in small amounts. Use the manufacturer’s suggested dose for at least one week before increasing. Then, stay on that increased dose for a week and evaluate your ailments again. Only increase by a milligram or two at a time.

While there isn’t a known unsafe dose of CBD, your body can get used to a certain dose. This may result in the need to move up to a larger dose. Keeping this in mind, it is best to start small and increase as you go. If your body typically requires increased doses of prescription medications, it could also happen with CBD, so if you start with a larger dose your body will depend on that larger dose all of the time.

Closing Thoughts

Your ideal dose of CBD is not going to be the same as someone else’s ideal dose of CBD. Everyone’s body is different and everyone’s body has different needs. The dose that works for you may not work for everyone in your circle. It might take a little bit of time to determine what your ideal dose of CBD is, but that’s okay – it’s best to take the time so that your body has the support it needs.
